“Monday Night Football” has seen upsets in back-to-back weeks: the Patriots lost to the Bears at home in Week 7 while the Browns beat the Bengals badly in Week 8 at home.
Could we see another upset in Week 9? It certainly seems possible.
The Saints (3-5) are preparing to host the Ravens (5-3) in a matchup of solid-looking teams. Baltimore has been the better of the two this season, but the Ravens also have shown a penchant for blowing leads. They have held a double-digit lead in all three of their losses this season.
New Orleans, meanwhile, sports the NFL’s worst turnover margin at minus-9. That said, they are capable of dominating when they limit turnovers, as was evident in a shutout of the Raiders last week. If they can take care of the ball again, they will have a chance to earn a victory in the friendly confines of the Caesars Superdome.
Here’s everything to know about the Saints vs. Ravens matchup ahead of ESPN’s NFL “Monday Night Football: broadcast.

Who plays on ‘Monday Night Football’ tonight?
- Matchup: Ravens vs. Saints
- Location: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans
The Saints will host the Ravens in a battle of teams that could use a win.
The Ravens (5-3) are in better shape than the Saints at the moment. Baltimore entered Week 9 as the AFC North leader. Lamar Jackson has had a solid year despite being without some of his top weapons (J.K. Dobbins, Rashod Bateman) for most of it. He will be asked to do the same against a solid Saints defense in Week 9.
Jackson and the offense may have a tough matchup, but the Baltimore defense is in a more favorable spot. New Orleans QB Andy Dalton is playing in prime time, where he has struggled over the years. He threw two pick-sixes in his last prime-time game in Week 7, so the Baltimore defense will need to be ready to capitalize on his mistakes.
Though Dalton has struggled in prime time, he has been a fine fill-in starter overall for the Saints. He has gotten the ball to Alvin Kamara frequently, and he will need to do that again vs. an improving Ravens defense that will have Tyus Bowser making his season debut and, potentially, Roquan Smith debuting for the team after he was acquired at the trade deadline.
The Saints (3-5) need a win to keep pace in the wide-open NFC South. They entered Week 9 a game back of the first-place Falcons.
