SEATTLE (AP) — Peyton Henry made a 22-yard field goal with 8 seconds left to cap a 92-yard scoring driving, and Washington held off No. 24 Oregon State 24-21 to preserve its hopes in the Pac-12 championship game race. The Huskies took over at their own 3 with 4:33 left. Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. led a march downfield against the Beavers’ stingy defense. Penix was 9 of 13 for 66 yards on the drive. Washington won its third straight and kept alive its slim hopes of finding a spot in Las Vegas in the conference title game. Oregon State was playing its first game ranked in The AP Top 25 since the 2013 season opener.
UNDATED (AP) — Michigan Stadium is one of the few places left in American sports where the home and visiting teams use the same tunnel to enter and exit the field. It’s a design popular in venues built in the early 20th century. It is rare now. Separate tunnels lead to and from the locker rooms in most newer stadiums. That all but eliminates the possibility of an ugly scene unfolding like the one minutes after Michigan State lost at Michigan. Older stadiums with single tunnels include Michigan, Michigan State, Rutgers and Stanford, the Los Angeles Coliseum and the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Last season against Washington, Everett Hayes hit a 20-yard field goal as time expired and Oregon State won 27-24 to snap a nine-game skid against the Huskies. This one should be entertaining, with all the other top teams in the conference heavy favorites this weekend. No. 8 Oregon is a 31 1/2-point favorite at Colorado, No. 9 USC a 21 1/2-point favorite hosting Cal and No. 9 UCLA a 10 1/2-point favorite at Arizona State.
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The eighth-ranked Oregon Ducks roll into Boulder against Colorado on a seven-game win streak. They’re a heavy favorite in what on the surface appears to be nothing more than a cakewalk. This is an Oregon team averaging more than 40 points since a 49-3 loss to No. 1 Georgia to open the season. The Ducks are clicking in every way possible behind the play of quarterback Bo Nix. He’s going against a Buffaloes defense allowing 483.8 total yards per game. Nix enters as the league’s back-to-back reigning offensive player of the week.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — No. 10 UCLA is still in the mix for the Pac-12 Championship and has a longshot chance at the College Football Playoff. The Bruins will have to win out and hope for some help to have any hope. So they need to avoid a slipup against Arizona State this weekend. Arizona State is coming in off its second win under interim coach Shaun Aguano, a 42-34 victory over Colorado.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — No. 12 Utah is becoming a disruptive force on defense again. The Utes surrendered an average of 529 yards and 42 points in back-to-back games against UCLA and USC. But Utah rediscovered its punishing identity in a 21-17 win over Washington State. The Utes generated four sacks and 10 tackles-for-loss while limiting the Cougars to 264 yards. Utah enters Saturday’s game against Arizona ranked No. 1 in the Pac-12 in total defense.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lincoln Riley took three Oklahoma teams to the College Football Playoff but the coach says he has no interest in the rankings that will determine if he’s got a shot to get No. 9 Southern California in there. Riley is much more concerned about the Trojans’ visit from struggling California on Saturday night for another conference showdown on the road to wherever USC is going in his debut season. The Trojans are big favorites against the Golden Bears, but Riley says it’s not difficult to keep his players’ attention on the opponents in front of them.
