Cuyahoga County announces $2 million in small business grants: Stimulus Watch – cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cuyahoga County will be spending $2 million of American Rescue Plan Act funding to support local small businesses.

The Cuyahoga County Small Business Stimulus Grant Program, approved during a Tuesday county council meeting, would provide grants of up to $50,000 for local businesses that have fewer than 50 employees.

The applications opened Wednesday on the county’s website and will remain open until Sept. 9, at 5 p.m., according to a news release from the county.

The goal of the grant funding is to help grow Cuyahoga County businesses that survived the pandemic. Businesses can use the grant funds on buying equipment, payroll, marketing, expanding location and more.

In order to be eligible, businesses must be located in Cuyahoga County, have been in business since before June 1, 2020 and have gross revenues of more than $35,000 in 2020 and 2021, according to the county’s website.

The National Development Council will review applications and make recommendations to a grant advisory committee made up of nonprofit and government officials for approval. Awards will be announced in fall 2022, and “scoring priority” will go to minority owned businesses and those that have secured outside investment, according to the news release.
